Self Development Idea (10) - Reading Good Books

"It isn' what the book costs; it's what it will cost if you don't read it." - Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn been mentioned that most homes valued over USD500K in the US have a library. Does it tell us something? Do you think that these people read first and get the house later or the other way round?

"A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read." Mark Twain

Reading good books is just like finding giants who allow us to stand on their shoulders, to get more ideas, see further, think deeper and broader, etc... Which can eliminate lots of trail and error in life.

Take for example, in the book "Buffetology", it reveals that Warren Buffet had put education in priority and perosnally spent time to educate his grand-daugthers, at the age of 10, in investment. And that these children can select stocks that out-perform the wall street professionals.

Well, as most public are not so lucky to born into those billionaire home where they can have private education on certain subjects that lead them to easier success in certain aspect of life. Therefore, one good way to over come this challenge is to read lot of good books. As this is fully within his personal control.

For the question which book is good and which is not... One could easily tell, after he read a couple of them...

Here are some classic that are surely good one(on the aspect of Personal Development):-
* The Power of Subconscious Mind - Joseph Murphy
* Think and Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill
* Master Key System - Charles Haanel
* Psycho-Cybernetics - Maxwell Maltz
* Silva Method - José Silva
* You Were Born Rich - Bob Proctor

* The Magic of Thinking Big - David Schwartz
* As a Man Thinketh - James Allen (Attached Below)

Self Development Idea (6) - The Unseen Guides

"Do the thing, and you will get the

energy to do the thing."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

In his classic book, "Chapter 14 The Sixth Sense of Think and Grow Rich", Napoleon Hill wrote that: "Every night, over a long period of years, I held an imaginary Council meeting with this group whom I called my "Invisible Counselors." "

He said that he began with nine men and they were Emerson, Paine, Edison, Darwin, Lincoln, Burbank, Napoleon, Ford, and Carnegie. And, every night, in his mind, he held an imaginary Council meeting with this group of people.

Later on, he added new members as he need new ideas of skill in different aspect, and finally he got more than fifty members.(at the time the book was published)

Later on in his other books... "You Can Work Your Own Miracles", and "Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind." He wrote with more unreserved on this subject call the Unseen Guides.

"Our unseen guides, whose existence can be proved only by those who have recognized them and accepted their services, remain at our service from the time of our birth until our death" - Napoleon Hill

And here are the summary of the Eight Invisible Guiding Prices and their Responsibility:

1) Prince of Financial Prosperity
Responsible for keeping him adequately supplied with every material thing which he desire or need to maintain the style of living which he have adopted.

2) Prince of Sound Physical Health
Responsible for keeping his physical body in perfect order at all times, including the conditioning of the body for any adjustments which have to be made.

3) Prince of Peace of Mind
Responsible for keeping the mind free from disturbing influences, such as fear, superstition, greed, envy, hatred and covetousness.

4) Prince of Hope
5) Prince of Faith (Operating as Twins)
Responsible for keeping the gateway to Infinite Intelligence open to him at all times, under all circumstances.

6) Prince of Love
7) Prince of Romance (Operating as Twins)
Responsible for keeping him youthful in both body and mind, and they do their work so well that he celebrates every birthday by deducting a year from his age!

8) Prince of Overall Wisdom
Responsible for inspiring eternal action on the part of the other seven Princes to the end that each carries out his duties to the fullest extend possible, and protects him while he sleeps the same as while he is awake.

The Figure above is just an illustration of his idea.

Another Self Development Master, Jose Silva, not only mention about the invisible council, he also provide a step by step method to develop such capability. Just that he limit the number of council to be two persons, one male and one female.

"What great thing would you attempt

if you knew you could not fail?"

— Robert H. Schuller

Self Development Idea (5) - The Subconscious Mind

"Whatever we plant in our
subconscious mind and nourish with
repetition and emotion will one day become a reality."

— Earl Nightingale:Author, The Strangest Secret

"A picture is worth a thousand words
" is a saying that refers to the idea that complex stories can be described with just a single still image, and this is true.

This is because that human mind thinks in term of "Picture" and express it with words to the outside world, or receiving some words from the outside world that trigger the mind to think in term of "Picture".

People are usually good at imagining or visualizing some images, in their mind, which are physically tangible. Such as a chair, a car, a human body, or even a ghost( which they can recall from the movies or picture books)...

But, when it come to ask people to think in term of some intangible stuffs, such as The Subconscious Mind.... Most people would not have a clue of what is it or where is it... Therefore, our education system develop tools to help people to understand intangible stuffs, such as flow chart, block diagram etc., as a model to work with.

The first diagram above,"Stickman" diagram was originally developed by Thurman Fleet,D.C. to represent our Conscious Mind, Subconscious Mind, and the Body...
http://www.zonedoctors.com/zonedoctors/images/Fleet_Chronology.pdf

All material available today has stated that at least 90% of our mental life is Subconscious. So, as the education system seldom or never taught the public on how to use their Subconscious Mind effectively... Most people are generally actively using only their Conscious part of the Mind, which is only a small fraction of their mental ability!!!

The diagram in
Figure 2 was made to represent that at least 90% of our mental power lies in the Subconscious part. All our Beliefs are stored in the Subconscious Mind, and it has unlimited capacity. When one person think that he has forgotten something. Actually, it is only that the Conscious Mind did not able to retrieve the memory stored in the Subconscious part.

We receive all information through our five senses. We
filter whatever information received and only accept part of the information according to our Conscious mind, and then act accordingly. So, the Conscious Mind work as a "Watchdog" to allow certain information to get through to the Subconscious Mind, based on his beliefs which was built upon old experience/education.

In Figure 3. It illustrates that:
"The Subconscious Mind has the same quality as the Universal Mind.
But, it is of much small quantity. Just like a tea spoon of sea water versus all the sea water in the seas.

On the other hand, the Subconscious Mind has a direct link to the Universal Mind to access the Unlimited Creative Power to over come any challenge in life.” - Idea comes from “The Secret of the Ages” by Robert Collier.

So, for those who are able to use their Subconscious Mind more effectively, either consciously or unconsciously, they would produce Greater Result in everything they do than those who do not.

Fortunately, there are various of methods can help individual to train themselves to be able to use their Subconscious Mind more effectively...

"Knowing is not enough; we must apply.

Willing is not enough; we must do."

— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Self Development Idea (3) - Only Human Being Has The Choice

Good day, Ladies and Gentlemen

The above picture has illustrated a very simple fact...
The fact is that:-
All living creatures, except human being, are born with certain unique and specific talent for their survival...
Such as:-
A baby cat will be able to catch mouse naturally when it grow up...
A baby buffalo will be able to help in farming when it grow up...
And, one cannot replace a cat to do the job for a buffalo and vice visa.

Now, lets take a look at a human baby...
There is no restriction of what a baby can become in his/her career when he/she grows up. He/She can be a doctor, teacher, scientist, worker, executive, employee or employer, or whatever job/career that it might be....

And...
The interesting question is:-

What's make a baby become what he/she become in the future?

If one do not have the answer, then it might be even more interesting to think about the question by asking:-
What's make myself become who am I today?
Is it my current job/career is something that I really wanted, and being so satisfied with it that I never wanted to change? or just holding on with it because I don't think I have other choice?

Researches and studies data, in all of self-development books, have shown that all great achievers had their definiteness of purpose in life been defined first before they became successful.

In the book, "The Science of Getting Rich", it says that successful people is success because of they "do things in a certain way" and not "certain things they do". This is obviously right as many people are having the same business or job, and even in the same company... eventually some got fired and some got promoted.

So, what make those successful people do things in a certain way and what way?
Obviously it would be directly related to how the person think in his mind... It is the ability to think differently at different level of awareness that cause them to fall into different categories of salary scheme...

So, what make these people think differently?
What kind of knowledge do they know that majority of the people unaware of?
Doesn't it an interesting question to discuss about?

"An Investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."
— Benjamin Franklin:
Founding Father of the United States of America

Self Development Idea (2) - Thought is the First Step Towards Success

(This is just a note taken from study the Napoleon Hill's books and Audio CDs)
Every person would has his own definition of success (if any), here are Napoleon Hill's definition of Riches of Life:-
Napoleon Hill's Twelve Great Riches of Life
1. Positive mental attitude
2. Sound physical health
3. Harmony in Human Relationships
4. Freedom from fear
5. The hope of achievement
6. The capacity for faith
7. A willingness to share one's blessings
8. A labor of love
9. An open mind on all subjects
10. Self discipline
11. The capacity to understand people
12. Financial security

(Note that the finanical part come the last. As it is basically a reflection of what a person has become.)

The Following are the short summary of the 17 Principle of Success:-

17 Principles of Success:-
1. Develop Definiteness of Purpose(When one has thoughtfully defined his personal goal(s) in life, then he can be focusing his energy in pursuing them. He can then create the environment and circumstances to achieve what he want rather than simply drift along with the environment aimlessly or simply accept what others have to offer him.)
2. Establih a Mastermind Alliance(Outstanding success in life had never been achieved by the effort of one man. The Master Mind effort is to get those of like mind, form an alliance, to work actively in a spirit of perfect harmony towards accomplishing of a definite purpose.) -- And the whole purpose of having this blog is to achieve this.
3. Use Applied Faith(Goal that's worth achieving always accompany with great challenges, and temporary defeats along the journey is almost certain. Faith is the "rocket fuel" of human endeavor. Applied Faith is the ability to hold on to the Positive Mental Attitude in mind when the going is tough.)
4. Going The Extra Mile(Make it a habit to contribute more than expected, with no expectation for immediate reward. It insures an increase in personal courage, self-reliance, personal initiative and it builds greater enthusiasm. Sooner or later, the law of compensation will bring its greater rewards.)
5. Assemble A Pleasing Personality(No man is an island. Before one can sell any product or service to others, he has to sell himself first. One should put in the effort in doing self-analysis and improve in this area.)
6. Create Personal Initiative(When one has a definite goal in mind and has the burning desire to achieve it, then opportunities for personal initiative are easy to find. )
7. Build A Positive Mental Attitude(Positive Mental Attitude is the cornerstone for success. The mind is the only thing one can control. In order to achieve the definite purpose of life, one must exercise that control and direct it by using Positive Mental Attitude.)
8. Enforce Self-Discipline(Self-Discipline is the first rule of all success leadership. It is the training which corrects, molds, strengthens, and perfects. When one gets himself under complete control, he then can be his own boss, and it makes discipline from the outside unnecessary. )
9. Control Your Enthusiasm(Enthusiasm is an emotion, the physical counterpart to one's idea. It starts the wheels of the imagination to turning. It is a feeling of confidence and harmony in working towards the definite goal. A man lack of Enthusiasm is like an automobile without gas. )
10. Control Your Concentration or Attention(Where concentration goes, energy flows. Controlled Attention is the act of focusing the mind on a given desire until ways and means for its realization have been worked out and successfully put into operation. Success comes after much concentration.)
11. Think Accurately(The ability to differentiate facts from opinions, and the ability to focus on important facts enable one to make effective decisions in achieving success.)
12. Learn from Adversity and Defeat(Adversity is part of life, and every adversity carries within it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. A man's attitude in time of adversity determines much of its eternal effect on his life - for good or ill. All success is based on the experience learn from defeats. No one has failed until he accepts the defeats as failure.)
13. Cooperation(Cooperation is the beginning of all organized effort. True cooperation has no room for selfishness or greed. All achievement is the form of significant and successful cooperation and teamwork between individuals.)
14. Cultivate Creative Vision or Imagination(Creative Vision or Imagination is a demonstration of the use of subconscious mind to tap into the wisdom of the infinite intelligence in getting breakthrough solution for any challenge. And, one way to communicate with the subconscious mind is to repetitively thinking for the solution with the burning desire. Especially, the time just before going to sleep, and the time just wake up from the bed [while the brain is still at Alpha state.])
15. Maintain Sound Health (Various habits affect heal:-
  • Mental Attitude affect health and it is something that one can control. Good thinking and feeling good generates harmony within one body and generates physical manifestations or order and system.
  • Eating habit affect health. (No over eating, don't eat rapidly, no soft drinks, no candy bar or snack between meals, take more water, more fruits and balance of food.)
  • Exercise/Meditation/Fasting.... Etc.

16.
Budget Your Time and Money(In our "spaceship earth", there is certain amount of natural resources. Same as individual, one has limited time and money; therefore there is a need to have a system to spend them well.)
17. Use Cosmic "Habitforce".Cosmic "Habitforce" is so obvious and can be overlooked easily. The power is always there regardless if you aware of it or not. They are the physical laws which make our patterns of natural behavior operate in predictable order and regularity. Blending the natural laws of the universe with our own activities helps create the power, that force, that energy which bring harmony, peace of mind, success.

"We can let circumstances rule us, or we can take

charge and rule our lives from within."

Self Development Tool (1) - The Process of "Thought Becomes Thing!"

The two diagrams posted above illustrate The Process of Thoughts become Things.

In figure 1, the flow chart shows that we have the options to choose through our personal filters in handling all situations that we are facing.

Take for example, one can choose to think of learning a new skill in this global economy crisis, and one can also choose to act like a victim and blame others. :-)

In figure 2, this chart shows some interesting meaning of the Chinese character... "". Basically this word is formed by another two individual characters ->""(meaning: Now) and ->""(meaning: Heart). For those who understand Chinese, they would know that the Traditional Chinese been using the word "心"(heart) as the place where Thoughts begin. Such as: "专心"(Concentration),"心不在焉"(one's mind is not on what one is doing),"心得"(what one has learned from work),etc...

In summary...
It means that: "The Positive Thought in one's heart Now would create a Positive Result in the Future."

So... If one would like to have some changes to get better results in what so ever, the charts might provide some clue of where it should start from. :-)

having too much to do. It comes from not
finishing what they've started."
